On the back from a client meeting we were looking for a nice lunch spot in central Frankfurt and we came across Mon Amie Maxi which is situated in an impressive building on Bockenheimer Landstrasse.
The interior is elaborated and the surroundings fit a posher business lunch, but this comes without the stiffness that sometimes accompanies this, our waiter was extremely cordial and efficient at the same time.
The cuisine is unapologetic classic French, with a lot of oysters, boudin blanc, poulet roti etc. I suppose it makes sense to have a good appetite when you show up there as the fare is not exactly light, but very comforting
We both decided to go for the lunch menu, which was excellent value and included a light salad as a starter, a nice option after a week of heavy business dinners.
The main was a Kalbsfrikadelle (veal meat loaf) with vegetables, which was sizeable, fresh and juicy, perfect as a filling winter option.
