For the first stay in Santorini, I did put in a lot of planning since I wanted to find the perfect place to stay. I ended up choosing Kirini, located in Oia, but somewhat outside of the centre, which avoided the masses of sunset seekers. Kirini is part of Relais & Chateaux and the perfection that can be found generally with these hotels was palpable throughout our stay.
We arrived and were greeted with a welcome drink in a lounge area, where the receptionist joined to check us in - no need to queue at the counter here.
We were upgraded to a lovely senior suite with a very private balcony and amazing views. While junior suites also have sea views, balconies are smaller and not as private.
The suite was furnished to perfection, with Bulgari toiletries and a Bose sound system equipped with their own Kirini mix. At the end of the stay I asked for a link to these mixes which we throughly enjoyed.
Breakfast put an emphasis on greek products and was served either in the restaurant area or poolside. We had lunch in the restaurant one of the days, but the food was not living entirely up to expectations given the hefty price tag. Generally, I would be careful about Oia restaurants and research them well, we had a couple of less than perfect experiences, in other parts of the island, restaurants have to make more of an effort to attract clients and are often better.
